My first collaboration with Dutch artist Froukje began somewhere between a creative meeting and a date. We were building the vision for the music video while simultaneously navigating whatever it was we were becoming. Art imitating life, life hijacking art.

The song called for a dramatic love story (text), so naturally we were young and projected it onto an actor who looks suspiciously like me and an elegantly unhinged, slightly mythologized version of Froukje. Pure fiction, almost.

What emerged was a film about two people circling each other in landscapes that feel large. There is a shot where the dunes crash gently into her collarbone, geology flirting with intimacy, that I like a lot.

We shot part of it at an beautyfull excavation. We’ll be returning there soon.
